Come Inside and See

The bed is open in top photo and the bottom photo is of the bed closed. If we have company we close the bed but normally we leave it open.Being somewhat lazy is part of airstream life.

Adia

It was important that we found a campground that allowed dogs.Adia has been with Andy for years and we would not dream of leaving her at home. She enjoys airstream living just as much as we do!

The Simple Life

The simple life is airstream living, which involves no cell phones, no televisions, no air conditioning units or blaring radios. Just peace and quiet, where reading and long walks and gazing up at the stars in the night sky  brings you back to a simplier self. Cooking on the grill is the highlight of a summer's evening, along with a good bottle of wine, and an early bedtime to catch the morning sunrise.

Photos along the way

Sometimes I am just amazed at the quaintness(is this a word?) of this section of town. There seem to be so many photo opportunities.Sometimes when Andy and I are out walking we talk about how far away  from home we feel, always discovering something new!

Her Summer Home

It took many weeks of research and long drives to find a vacation spot for our airstream. We had only one campground that was within 30 minutes from our town but many options on the cape, and further north into New Hampshire and Maine; unfortunately the traffic is horrible on Fridays and we decided that we did not want to spend our weekend going to and from our location. Our first choice was "Blackman's Point" in the Brant Rock section of Marshfield but it was booked for the season. The owner seemed to like Andy and I am sure he charmed her with his winning personality when he asked to be put on her waiting list ( seventy-five people ahead of us). A  few weeks later she called and  "lo and behold" a spot was available in the campground that sits high on a hill with views of the Atlantic ocean. Beautiful!!!!

Orange Paint, Mouse Droppings and Blue Shag Carpet

Our airstream may have been a beauty on the outside but the inside was a mess. The first thing to go was the white vinyl couch, the blue shag carpet, a few dead mice and the assorted mouse droppings left by our little friends who probably found a nice home the previous winter. Andy began working on a new interior design for the sleeping area and researched airstream designs from the sixties by way of the airstream forum website(http://www.airstreamforum.com/). His next major project was to strip the orange paint from all the doors and cabinets, a task that took months to complete. The electrical system needed little work but the bathroom plumbing had to be replaced. Andy replaced the floors with veneer wood strips that resemble hard wood floors, made an oak table top for the kitchen and painted the entire interior.I know there is so much more that he did but that will come later under restoration.

This summer we decided to make curtains or I decided and Andy made them. This is Andy cutting the material.
